Suggestions for future versions of Baby Diary

Postby avt104981 » Tue Sep 30, 2008 10:59 am

Thanks so much for such a nice program.

I was wondering if that would be possible to implement the following:

1. After uploading the web book, the age of the baby displayed on the home page is 'frozen'. You have to update your page by uploading it again to make it reflect the right age. Is is possible to make it compute the age (say, 3 months, 2 weeks and 4 days) automatically?

2. The category 'Pictures' on the web book lists all pictures in all categories. Will it be possible to have some control over that? I use pictures of my pediatrician(s) as an illustrartion for all notes about doctor visits. Thus, many have exactly the same picture. When I go to the all pictures section, it lists many identical pictures for my doctor visits. I would like to see just one of each. You can see what I mean here:
http://karinabalashova.com/photo_Russian_1.htm (my diary).

3. That would be really nice to be able to attach more than one picture to a note. For some events one picture and/or video is just not enough.

4. Can the default graph area be adjusted based on the actual input values? This is both - for the program itself and for the web book. If the child is just several months old, the graph still shows (say, on the web book) all 36 months for the plot area. This makes real values hardly visible and/or distinct (even after magnification on the web, you can check it with my page). This applyes only for length and weight graphs.

5. Even when 'do not post on the web' is selected for all subcategories, the word 'subcategories' on the left on the web page still appears. I found it misleading for visitors.

Thanks again,

Thanks for your input.
1. We could add an option that will display on a web book also the baby age ticker that from Google Gadgets. This ticker always show correct age information.

2. Which functionality do you need: "Don't post to web for picture" or "Don't post to web for the whole note"?

3. I've placed it in our queue. However this is possible right now: you can add attachment/pictures directly in the text. See Note > Insert > Picture or Note > Insert > File Attachment.

I will come up with answers to 4 and 5 later.
Regards, Andrew Arov.

I would still like to post on the web both the note and the picture. However, I would like to avoid duplicate pictures under the 'All Picutres' tab ("??? ??????????", sorry I use the Russian version). Take a look here: http://karinabalashova.com/photo_Russian_1.htm, and scroll all the way down.

Now you can do it only manually and only in the application. Simple select needed region with mouse. We could implement automatic resizing, but probably not in next builds.

I've reproduced it and placed in our queue.

Just one more tiny suggestion for the web book.
On the index page of the web book (style 'Leaves'), categories Length, Weight, and Head Circumference are listed on the left. However, on the right, only Length and Weight are present. Is that done on purpose?

Any new builds with corrections to my previous questions any time soon?
Thanks in advance,
Vadim

Did I miss something? Has there been a new build?

One more observation. I am using the Russian version of the program. However, when I work with charts, and move my mouse over the menus ('Up', 'Edit Char Data', 'Zoom', etc.), the flyout hints are still in English.

Vadim, we are sorry - the build has been delayed. Unfortunately, we have problems on several installations. Baby Diary won't start on some machines. Now we are working on an internal mechanism that could help us to sort out the problems. We will try our best to finish in one week. Can't guarantee that, though. I will let you know asap.

The build 560 is ready. We fixed the Leaves web book template and subcategories. Other changes will be in coming builds.

Thank you very much, guys! Will keep recommending your product as a modern gift for expecting/current parents.
And, of course, looking forward for the new build.

Hely guys!

Is there going to be a new build any time soon?
I still hope to see some of the requested features in the near future. ;-) Especially the one that lets multiple pictures to be attached to the note (without having to resize the picture manually and paste it inside the body of the text), and the one that adds an automatic age counter to the WebBook.

Thanks for the prompt response! Could you also, please, fix the one with the WebBooks that produces multiple pictures on the 'All Photos' tab even when the picture is actually the same. See our conversation above or here: http://karinabalashova.com/photo_Russian_1.htm (scroll all the way down).
Looking forward to a new build!
